Darwin is the capital and most populous city in the Northern Territory. Compared to other capital cities in Australia, however, Darwin is the smallest and least populous.

From its humble beginnings as an outpost and port, Darwin today has grown into a modern and multicultural city.

With its tropical climate and laid back lifestyle, the city serves as a regional centre for the Top End as well as a gateway to neighbouring countries such as Indonesia and East Timor.
