Apollo Bay

the Great Ocean Road. The town's roots lie in fishing and dairying with tourism now becoming a primary source of its income. Places of interest in Apollo Bay include Mariners Lookout which provides spectacular views of the area, the Old Cable Station Museum and the Saturday community market along the main strip. There are plenty of activities for visitors to indulge in ranging from horse-riding along the beach, tandem hang-gliding or paragliding to mountain-bike riding through the Otways. Various nature, scenic and fishing tours are also available. The intimate Apollo Bay Music Festival attracts thousands of people and is held in late April. It features a combination of blues, jazz, classical, rock and folk music as well as street performers and buskers.
Getting to Apollo Bay
The most common route to Apollo Bay is via Geelong and along the Great Ocean Road past Lorne. Alternatively, use the scenic country route by leaving Geelong via the Princes Highway and taking the Moriac turn-off before following the signs to Apollo Bay. The road will connect to the Great Ocean Road at Skenes Creek which is about 6 km east of Apollo Bay.
