Cairns Esplanade & Lagoon

The Cairns Esplanade is a delightful and spacious recreational area on the foreshore of central Cairns. Lined with striking palm trees and luscious green grass, it's the ideal place where anyone can get active or just laze away.

Outdoor activities at the esplanade are all the rage. At any time, you'll see plenty of healthy individuals jogging, rollerblading, bike-riding or simply just having a pleasant stroll along the plasant 3km walking trail.

With public barbecues on hand and playgrounds for kids, the esplanade is the perfect spot to munch on lunch or simply lie back on a rug to relax.

Shops and eateries are conveniently located close by and the sunny esplanade is also a favourite stop-off for migratory birds which you can see feeding in the mudflats nearby at various times during the year.

A major draw-card of the Cairns Esplanade is the stunning lagoon. An all-year-round, safe, saltwater swimming pool, the lagoon is surrounded by scenic landscaped gardens with protective trees that provide shade from the tropical sun.

The unique lagoon also features a sandy edge at one end for you to sink your toes into while visitors can also choose to lounge at the timber decking at the opposite end.
