The beautiful Marrdja Botanical Walk at Oliver Creek lies just north of Cooper Creek and Thornton Beach. The boardwalk is one of four walks run by the National Parks service in the Daintree region and runs for more than a kilometre through an intriguing pocket of rainforest and mangroves out to the banks of Noah Creek. The boardwalk is designed to be interactive with numerous information signs along the way detailing the historical significance of the plants and rainforest in the area which represent the various stages of plant evolution over millions of years. A full range of unique and interesting plantlife can be found along the Marrdja Boardwalk including spiky lawyer canes, corkscrew-shaped lianas, spherical pods from the cannonball mangrove, various epiphytes, cycads, palms with tendrils as well as a fascinating fan-palm forest. Other walks in the Daintree and Cape Tribulation region which may be of interest to visitors are the Dubuji Boardwalk, the Kulki Boardwalk and the more challenging Mount Sorrow Ridge Walk.
