Occupying a former primary school classroom on Porters Promenade is the Mission Beach Visitor Information Centre. Working here are a group of dedicated volunteer staff who provide visiting tourists with helpful and unbiased information about the Mission Beach area. The centre provides a free accommodation and tour booking service and also works to promote the various events, festivals, concerts, markets that are held in Mission Beach. A range of brochures in 6 different languages can be picked up with information on national parks, swimming holes, driving trails, places to eat, camping areas, fishing guides and bus timetables. Visitors can also purchase books, maps and souvenirs, use the computers to get more information or take a quick break from their travels with a hot cup of tea or coffee.
