Located at the border between Queensland and New South Wales is the Point Danger headland which separates the famous surf break of Snapper Rocks to the north and the mouth of the Tweed River down south. Standing with large pillars enclosing a large bronze globe is the Captain Cook Memorial and lighthouse which chronicles the voyages of the legendary explorer around the southern hemisphere. Also at the top of the headland is a park and lookout which provides some nice views down the coast while the Walk of Remembrance and Centaur Memorial pays tribute to those who perished in the nearby waters during the Second World War. In beaches surrounding Point Danger, locals and visitors to the surf-crazy seaside town of Coolangatta can usually be found in their colourful wet suits indulging in the excellent waves and swells which develop and move between Point Danger to Kirra Point.
