The Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park located at Caravonica (17 kilometers north of Cairns) lies on 25-acres of land owned by the Tjapukai people, and is the most highly acclaimed aboriginal cultural attraction in Australia. There are four separate theatres within including Dance, Culture and History. The fourth is known as ‘The Magic Space’ and consists of a mix of modern and ancient art in a museum gallery. The park aims to educate visitors in the culture of the rainforest Tjapukai aboriginal people of Tropical North Queensland while providing a thoroughly entertaining and exciting experience. Various shows are scheduled daily while miscellaneous artifacts can be purchased as souvenirs. Guests can wander around the lake and visit the freshwater turtles and wild ducks while attempting to spot the eels. For a fabulous buffet lunch head to the park's Boomerang Restaurant and sample a variety of food influenced with indigenous bush ingredients along with traditional fare. During the evening, guests can choose to be involved in a range of interactive activities while being introduced to the rituals of Dreamtime which culminate with dramatic ceremonial fire-making. A path of fire will then lead to your dreamy dinner, and thereafter you can be further entertained by dance and music which include fascinating didgeridoo tones mixed a delightful touch of black humour sure to make you smile.
