The Cairns Tropical Zoo in Palm Cove, also known as Wild World, features an array of indigenous and unique wildlife in their native habitat where visitors can get close to and interact with the animals being showcased. Birds such as macaws, cassowaries and lorikeets are on display in the various aviaries while reptiles such as freshwater crocodiles and alligators occupy enclosures in the southern section. Also at the zoo are native Australian wildlife such as kangaroos, wombats, dingoes and koalas as well as exotic species such as red pandas and cotton top tamarinds. Bird and snake shows are scheduled regularly and the zoo even has its own picturesque wedding chapel surrounded by scenic tropical gardens and a serene pond.
