Palm Cove
Perhaps the most glamorous of the northern beaches of Cairns, the resort village of Palm Cove lies
where the natural wonders of the ocean's reef and tropical rainforests meet, allowing for a whole range of attractions and activities within easy reach. With charming resorts and spas adorned with palm trees swaying amidst gentle sea breezes flowing from the pristine beaches, the town makes for an idylic destination for honeymooners or couples seeking that exclusive romantic getaway. Williams Esplanade follows runs along the beach adjacent to the Palm Cove village. At the northern end of the esplanade is the Paradise Village Shopping Centre where visitors can peruse through the range of boutiques and galleries or utilise the services and facilities available such as post office, newsagent, moneychanger and internet access. Booking offices for various tours and cruises of the surrounding Cairns areas including the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage Tropical Rainforests are located at the Paradise Village. Cruises and charters depart from the Palm Cove jetty and visitors can indulge in some exploring, diving and snorkeling of the reef and islands nearby. Around the Palm Cove resort area itself, visitors can enjoy watersports such as kayaking and windsurfing or having a relaxing stroll or swim at the beach. The nearby jetty is also a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts. Palm Cove has fashioned itself as the spa capital of Australia, or at least North Queensland. Resorts such as Angsana Resort and Spa and Sebel Reef House feature tranquil and elaborately designed spas offering an array of massages and treatments to nourish and pamper guests. Just five minutes south of Palm Cove is Cairns Tropical Zoo where visitors can watch and interact with a range of native and exotic animals.
